Note: Where we refer to ‘parents’ we mean parents and carers inclusively. The term ‘children’ or ‘child’ describes any person under the age of 18.
As a young person taking part in Ipswich Skating Club activities, we’d like you to:
The essentials
- listen to your coach or trainer
- behave responsibly and respectfully
- speak out if you feel worried or concerned — and reach out to your coach, staff or a parent for support
- when you’re with us, stay in the places where you’re supposed to, don’t wander off or leave without telling a member of staff
- take care of our equipment and premises as if they were your own
- make it to practices, sessions or competitions on time
- bring the appropriate kit, food and drinks to practice, which is suitable for the weather and season
- do not vape, smoke or consume alcohol on our premises or during practices, competitions or when representing us
Behaviour
- celebrate difference in our club or activity and not to discriminate against anyone
- report any incidents of bullying to a member of staff
- treat others with respect and appreciate everyone has different levels of ability and skill
- support and encourage your teammates
- respect everyone participating (staff, volunteers, officials and skaters from all teams)
- celebrate successes and be gracious when we lose
- follow our club or activities rules and the rules of the game, sport, activity
- follow our online safety and social media policies and procedures
As a young person taking part, we understand you have the right to:
- have fun and enjoy the time you spend with us
- know that you’re safe
- be informed of who you can talk to if something isn’t right, or you have a concern
- be listened to and feel valued
- be involved and contribute towards decisions within our club or activity
- be respected by us and your peers
- be treated fairly
- feel welcomed and included
- feel encouraged to develop your skills with our support
- be looked after and supported if there is an accident or injury
We expect all young people to follow the behaviors and requests set out in this code. If any young person behaves in a way which contradicts any of the points set out above, we’ll address the problem straight away with parent’s involvement and aim to resolve the issue.
Continued issues and repeated breaches of this code may result in us regrettably asking you to leave the activity, event or club permanently, for the welfare of yourself and, or others.
