Note: Where we refer to ‘parents’ we mean parents and carers inclusively. The term ‘children’ or ‘child’ describes any person under the age of 18.
As a parent of a child taking part in Ipswich Skating Club activities, we’d like you to:
The essentials
- make sure your child has the right kit, food and drink for the session
- ensure that your child arrives to sessions on time and is picked up promptly – inform us if you’re running late or your child is going home with someone else
- complete all consent, contact and medical forms, and update us if anything changes
- make sure your child wears any protective kit provided
- be respectful of everyone participating (coaches, staff, volunteers, officials, young people, parents and other teams and staff)
- build and maintain a relationship with your child’s coach or trainer — have check ins to support your child’s development
- talk to us if you have any concerns about any part of your child’s involvement, we’d love to hear from you!
Behaviour
- take time to talk to your child about their sport or activity and what they want to achieve while taking part
- listen to your child if they say don’t want to do something and ask them why – sudden changes in behaviour could indicate something bigger is going on
- behave positively and encourage your child and their peers

- respect and accept the official’s judgment and do not enter the skating rink
- use social media and apps responsibly when communicating on our channels, in line with our code of conduct and policies

- ensure that your child understands their code of conduct
As a parent, we understand you have the right to:

- We expect all parents to follow the behaviours and requests set out in this code. If any parent behaves in a way which contradicts any of the points set out above, we’ll address the problem with the parent and aim to resolve the issue promptly.
Persistent concerns or breaches may result in parents being asked not to attend sessions or competitions if their attendance is considered a risk to our young participants, staff, volunteers, parents, and impact on others enjoyment.
Continued issues and repeated breaches of this code may result in us regrettably asking your child to leave the activity, event or club permanently, something we never want to do.
