The artistic skaters kicked off their 2025 competition season with an exciting and successful first event held on March 15 and 16 at Breydon Arena in Great Yarmouth. The competition was round 1 of the prestigious Figure and Free Roller Cup, a national event organized by GB Skate Artistic.
A talented team of seven skaters represented their club, with three of them competing in their very first figure or free roller competition, and one, Catherine, making her debut in her first ever competition as an adult skater. The event marked a significant milestone for the team, with Sarah and Alex stepping up to compete in higher categories than in 2024, which made the weekend even more thrilling.
Despite the nerves and challenges that often come with competition, all skaters performed admirably, showing resilience and skill. A few standout moments earned special mention:
- Maddy’s Remarkable Bronze Finish: Maddy, who was competing in her first-ever figure competition, took home a bronze medal in the Level 1 Under 14’s Figure category. This impressive achievement shows the potential of this young skater and her ability to perform under pressure.
- Amy’s Incredible Personal Best: Amy had a standout performance in the Level 1C 16 and Under Free category. She not only performed brilliantly but also managed to increase her personal best score by over 50%. This is especially impressive considering she was the youngest in her category by a solid four years.
